From the hotel, 45 minutes drive to Stone Town, 20 minutes by boat, 2 hours tour, 20 minutes back by boat and 45 minutes back by car to the hotel.
Earning its name as a former slave prison and quarantine station for Zanzibar and the mainland, this island lies just outside the old stone town and is home to giant tortoises imported from the Seychelles in the late 19th century. Commonly known as the home of Zanzibar's Aldabran Giant Tortoise Colony, some of which are over a hundred years old! This endangered species arrived in Zanzibar as a gift from the Seychelles government. Once on the island, you have the opportunity to feed and pet the turtles.
